About US

Fashion today is not just about covering our body. It is also about defining who we are: our characters, views and stances. Hence, various styles, either formal or casual, are consciously chosen to reflect our identity. And more than just a personal expression, fashion carries out social, cultural even political implications that encourage experts and enthusiasts to discuss this prodigy in academic settings.
This year, English Language and Literature Department proudly presents the Fifth Colalite, to provide a platform for sharing ideas, thoughts and findings on this exciting subject. With the theme “Dress to kill: Fashion, Body, and Identity”, our conference aims at facilitating discussions on fashion in the perspectives of linguistics, translation, literature, culture and business.

SCOPE

COLALITE (Conference of Language, Linguistics, and Literature) is a conference held by English Department, Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman. The aim of this international seminar is to boost the spirit and enthusiasm of academics and non-academics in language, linguistics, literature, culture, translation studies, and vocational fields to share the result of their research internationally. This international seminar is expected to be able to create togetherness in these fields.
The Fifth COLALITE presents “Dressed to Kill: Fashion, Body, and Identity” as the chosen theme. It will examine how diversity in fashion can be extensively elaborated in the field other than fashion studies itself. The following sub-themes will color this time conference:

Paper Submission
Authors are required to submit their potential abstract and their full paper within the determined timeline. It will be published after some review process. A complete paper is a brief description of work in progress, a discussion of a topic, a regular paper presenting completed and validated research, and discussing ideas, facts, circumstances, methods, procedures, or scientific results.
The submitted abstract and full paper must be in English that address one or more of the conference areas or subjects and has been extensively proofread for grammar and spelling. Each work should make a clear distinction between the technical or scientific contribution.

Double Blind Reviewing
We apply double-blind review to assess authors’ manuscripts. The comments posted by reviewers will remain anonymous and the reviewers cannot see the authors’ names. The number of manuscripts reviews can be done several times as it is needed to complete, and authors are not allowed to change the paper during the review process.

Submission Instruction
We are inviting authors to submit paper abstracts before May 5th, 2023. Please be aware that after the deadline for abstract submission, the change on the authors’ data is not allowed. Ensure that all authors have the latest information and open review profiles. The submitted abstract must be authentic, and the plagiarism-detected abstracts and full papers will automatically be removed.

Reviewing Process
The reviewing process allows authors to check the progress of their manuscripts. The following are the provision:
1. Authors who are logged in during the public discussion stage can post comments that are publicly available. Additionally, the decision to post anonymously or not is up to the commenter or reviewer. A login is necessary before leaving any kind of remark.
2. Authors are encouraged to edit their papers up until the deadline for paper submission after reviews have been posted. Authors are always welcome to take part in the conversation regarding their paper or any other paper that has been submitted to the conference.
3. If authors decide to alter their submission during the discussion period, it will be compared to the initial revision. Changes that significantly amend the original manuscript may be disregarded by the area chairman and reviewers.
4. Following the debate, acceptance choices are made after an internal discussion session among reviewers with the purpose of summarizing the review process. The reviews, comments, and links to the version submitted to The Fifth COLALITE 2023 will still be available on the open review website.
5. All accepted papers will be published, and the authors will get notification.
